Hybrids

Crossbreading

Hybrids of some closely related species are done only in captivity, but they also occur in nature, where some very closely related species like Coliases cross pair with each other as well. I my self am not very big fan of making hybrids but sometimes when a good occasion appears, for example when male and female of related species hatch and there are no more pupae for normal paiting I also try this experiment. But rearing of these geneticaly weak caterpillars is mostly very difficult. And that is why I will be happy to put here on my web site any other hybrid images from other butterfly collectors.
