Husenica: These informations come from a friend of mine Thorsten Klang: I have started to rear them in small plastic container on a Pinus sp. which I have evaluated by trial and error. I have tried some, but only found one tree which has worked out well. Then all 3-4 days I have changed the hostplant in the container till L3. In L4 I have started to separate them in this type of box attached in the foto. The Pinus sp. I have changed now every 3rd day. The paper I have put in the last L5 instar to provide support for the cocoon. The conditions: I always left the box in the kitchen near the floor on the plates at about 15-18C without a lot changes in position. The cover with the gaze was left open to give air. After one day I also have sprayed the needles (NOT THE LARVA !) a bit with water but not much. They need a cool, moist but ventilated condition. In the afternoon around 16h there was the first time at the day with a bit sunshine on the boxes, but just for 2 hours only per day. Unfortunately the first cocoon i have had showed that there was a pupation problem inside and the liquid oozed out from the silk. What a loss! The second larva is still inside and hope there will be the moult soon, which takes about 1-2 weeks after the cocooning.
